Meaning & History

Derived from the Egyptian term jmnt, which is reconstructed as Yamanut, the feminine counterpart of the deity Amon. In Egyptian mythology, she was a primal goddess and was considered Amon's consort. However, she was eventually overshadowed by the goddess Mut.
